The Customer

BayWaBayWa is a globally active group with the core segments Energy, Agriculture and Building Materials as well as the development segment Innovation & Digitalization. The parent company, founded in 1923, is headquartered in Munich. The Energy Segment comprises trading in traditional energy sources such as mineral oil-based fuels and lubricants. In addition, in the field of renewable energies, there is project business relating to the construction of wind farms and solar parks, as well as the trading business in components and systems for photovoltaic plants. In 2019, BayWa AG's Energy Segment generated €4.5 billion and employed an average of 2,800 employees (www.baywa.de).

The Challenge

The management of maintenance and repair generates an immense amount of administrative work on a daily basis in companies with decentralized organizational structures, such as service station network operators - unexpected telephone calls for simple information, searching for and checking the status of messages and important documents, tedious follow-up phone calls for due tasks or recurring tasks are very time-consuming and absolutely unproductive. Directly related to this is plant availability. This influences the efficiency of machines, plants and equipment - unexpected failures, poorly organized maintenance and inspection periods and lack of automation of maintenance negatively affect business.

The solution

Via omis, fault messages for cash registers, dispensers, shop/catering equipment or brush washing systems can be created quickly and easily. Where there is usually a maintenance contract, the message can be sent directly to the service provider via the system. A clear asset management system is used to manage the company's assets. The aim is to ensure high plant and equipment availability. In addition, decisions about future investments can be made immediately on the basis of the collected data.

"omis 4.0 is a precise software solution when it comes to maintenance management. Due to the modular structure, the optimal adaptation to the infrastructure is always given and future-proof," says Stefan Kahl.

omis 4.0 has a modular structure and can therefore be adapted specifically to the needs of each customer. The various modules result in numerous functions and options for how omis can be optimally used in the company. The main module lists and manages the most important master data. It also serves as a data source for the other modules. omis 4.0 includes the essential functions that are needed by users in their daily work: Master data management, message management, document management system, test date and checklist management and evaluation options.
