The challenge


"INIT provides an Automatic Passenger Counting System (APC) for the Regional Transportation District (RTD) Denver (USA). The vehicles record and upload passenger ridership data to the RTD planning department for the purpose of reports. As such it is a requirement to have accurate data which is also used to receive funding for the agency from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) government", explains Mr. Rakebrandt (Director Business Development for APC).

In general, the safety measures in public transport are very strict. Therefore, it is always important to keep an eye on current faults and to respond quickly to them.
"With reporting requirements on the transit and federal level, it is important to identify equipment defects which typically lead to accuracy issues along with accuracy issues themselves", says Mr. Rakebrandt.


The solution


"With the current INIT/omis integration accuracy issues are streamlined in order to produce greater efficiency in their resolution. In addition, to serving as traceability/tracking for issues among the vehicle fleet. INIT has implemented omis solution on 106 trains for the initial installation with creating acceptance sheets. Furthermore, omis is creating automated work order daily at 1:00 PM EST to inform the team about vehicle defects that the maintenance team can act quickly to correct the issue" (Mr. Rakebrandt).


omis is a single point of contact for all fault, error and claim reports, e.g. in the event of faults with doors on busses or trains with sensors or GPS receivers. This enables operators to react accordingly and keep downtimes short. Through the digital document management, important documents (e.g. photos of repairs, documents from inspection appointments etc.) can be stored and managed. Insurance claims can be distributed both manually and automatically to the responsible person and service provider.

Inspection management allows technical inspection of doors on busses and trains to be conducted on schedule. The next appointment is created automatically after completion based on the stored periodicity.
