Since the early 2000s we rely on the data cloud. The benefits have been and still are very clear. That's just one reason why omis 4.0 is market leader among maintenance software providers for fuel station operators in the area of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Software giants like Amazon, Facebook, Google & Co started their path towards the cloud in the beginning of the 2000s. To manage the Christmas season of 2006 Amazon moved the whole IT-infrastructure to the cloud.
Rudi Faschang, who started the development of the software solution omis at that point in time, was not less innovative. Back then, with his business as a two-man-show he also counted on the data cloud to 100%!
As a result of the sparse usability of browsers the user interface was not really sexy then (see screenshot). However, the benefits were already clear:
- mobile accessibility from everywhere via web
- no installation or maintenance effort
- quickly scalable at network expansions
- easy access creation for external service providers
- equal and current view on data and processes for all parties involved
This pioneering spirit is still valuable today. There have been no negative experiences with this technology at Faschang in the last 15 years and the users benefit from this now and then.
Rudi Faschang likes to remember the beginnings. Even if there were no challenges that could not be managed there are on or two anecdotes that make him smile.
